Bygone

study-ghandi3.jpg

I started this one last week but I won’t have time finishing it. Why Gandhi? (Thanks for pointing out doc!) Beats me.. I’m not in that camp. I ran into an old children’s book with his picture on the cover and I thought his facial expression were interessting. What you see now are the first layers – the eyes still need to be filled in, the background needs a theme and the mustache should be smaller but all of that is going to have to wait till I get back…

I think it’s a very unique and striking drawing. Hope you finish it. A mult-coloured (layered?) Gandhi!

It looks like a cross breed of Gandhi (note the spelling) and the Sankaracharya.
Great job, as any critic would say you intentionally made this to strike a politico-religious social statement!
    ;-)

he he …just think of him living now…poor guy he wouldn’t have been able to do anything…its funny…we never bother thinking about his principles and applying it in life, for we don’t have the space…skls are the places where the thing starts…place for creativity has decreased like hell….its left to you to survive…

@Rambodoc, I didn’t expect that comment from you and I think it’s real interessting what you said and how you look at this unfinished piece. Thank you for your kind words. You know the critic paints along with the painter and I love what you just created!

@Visheshur – perhaps it sometimes good that we don’t dwell to much about what his priciples were as Gandhi had some odd views on Jews and the holocaust and more. You know I once read that the two persons who were most influenced by Madame Blavatsky are Mahatma Gandhi and Hitler…

Sure the author and his backgrond of that particular piece should be checked….

When putting that aside I fully agree with you. His wit, snarkiness and visions are admirable and still valid not studying them would be denying yourself a world

As per school, I always hated hated hated school and flunked nearly every year. Infact I just finished hihgschool (2 years ago). I think it’s one of the worst institutes ever invented!

    lol..
Ya, Gandhi had some odd views on Holocaust..I read in Sam Harris’s book ( End of Faith) that Gandhi was of the view that Jews should have started embracing death themselves through a mass suicide..this,according to Gandhi, would have brought change of heart for Hitler..
    Ridiculous..I must say

Yes it was a rather strange view, my father said something today about the irrationality of rational beliefs…..

Personally I don’t think Hitler’s heart had to be changed but those who followed him and his orders. Perhaps I have a big mouth, it’s easy talking behind my desk.

Just wondering, which sources did Harris use?

  11. 11 lallopallo March 3, 2008 at 11:05 pm

Iam not sure which sources,if any, he used..he might have put some references, but I dont remember..I have to check the book..
Your mouth doesnt look that big to me..you seem to have big eyes though..:P
