India as a donor country

Can you see it as a progress that India is taking up the role as a donor country? A Timesonline article called  India deprives own poor in bid to be aid donor  talks about a British Plan to help India become one of the main givers of aid. The British part included, it all seems so contradicting.

Or not. Apparently aid is just another form of doing buisness. I stumbled upon this site that explains in short (bless them) why countries should give aid.

At the cost of her own poor, with the prospect of better economic and political relations and the possibilty of gaining more power – is bidding to be an aid donor the right step for India to do?

Finding Chennai

March the 5th I’m heading to Chennai. For some strange reason I was convinced that Chennai was right under Calcutta. You can imagine the shock when I looked on the map this morning.

 

 

God is reason itself?

I got this quote from a book on Aristotle. On the last few pages the authors mentioned the words of quite liberal Islamic scholars who believed that: Rationalism is the final form of religion and that God is reason itself, and so, rational thought is a better way of understanding divinity than revelation in scripture.
